Local Expeditions
The Niagara region has a beautiful landscape that is often neglected due to the stresses of school and everyday life. We’d like to invite you to take a moment to look at some of the local expeditions offered within 20 minutes. This area is great for outdoors with bike paths, nature trails, scenic landscapes, swimming, boating, disc golfing, and much more. The next time you are looking for something to do (that doesn’t cost much) think about visiting one of our local parks and spending your day outdoors. Don’t forget to come back to our site and let us know what thought by using the wiki.
Beaver Island State Park
Beaver Island Park offers a beach, picnic tables with pavilions, golf, disc golf, recreation programs, a nature trail, seasonal waterfowl hunting, fishing and ice-fishing, sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and snowmobiling, a boat launch with marina and dockage, and a food concession. The park is located in Erie County, in Grand Island.
Joseph Davis State Park
Joseph Davis State Park is located in Youngstown. The park is generally flat, with fields, woodlands and ponds. The park has a nature trail, as well as cross-country skiing/snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails and a 27-hole disc golf course. This is in my opinion, the best disc golf course around here. This park is located on Lower River Road, between Lewiston and Youngstown.
Fort Niagara State Park
Fort Niagara is in Youngstown, at the end of the Robert Moses Parkway. The park offers picnic tables and pavilions, hiking, a playground and 18 soccer fields, a pool, recreation programs, a nature trail, tennis, sledding, snowshoe trails, cross-country skiing, waterfowl hunting in season, fishing and a food concession. There are two boat launches on the lower Niagara River.
Whirlpool State Park
Whirlpool State Park is the closest park to the Niagara University Campus; it offers spectacular views of the Rapids, the whirlpools and the Niagara River. There is a lower level of the park that can be accessed by stairs or cables… (Bring your hiking boots!) and trails throughout the park to walk or run along the rapids.
Niagara Falls State Park
Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States. This park is definitely a must see! This park offers Bike Paths, Fishing, Hiking, Picnic tables, a Visitor Center, Nature trails, and places to eat. Also, within the park are the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds. This park is geared more towards tourists than locals, but it is still fun to go and admire at some of our local attractions.
Hyde Park
(No picture available)
This park offers a 36 hole golf course free for public use. Hyde Park is located at the corner of Hyde Park Boulevard and Pine Avenue. This park offers other various activites, such as hiking, volleyball, swimming, baseball, tennis courts, and more.
This is the official New York State Parks site... offering driving directions and a more detailed description of what the parks have to offer.
